Hidalgo County Precinct No. 1and the City of Weslaco entered an Interlocal Cooperative Agreement, with assistance from the HCDD1 to improve the areas' drainage and reconstruct Milanos Road from US Business 83 to Mile 6 Road (18th St.) and Mile 7 (6th St.) from Milanos Road east to the Irrigation Canal Crossing. The project provides much needed road and drainage improvements to the area. The road was re-built, along with roadside ditch regrading and the addition of culvert pipe to keep the storm water flowing to the newly improved drainage ditches. This allows for better area drainage and helps keep the newly built road intact. HCDD1 Engineering prepared the plans for the project and improved three drainage ditch crossings that belong to the Hidalgo & Cameron County Irrigation District No. 9 as part of an Interlocal Cooperative Agreement between the two districts. Hidalgo County precinct No. 1 performed the road and drainage improvements through in-house staff.
